A Parent Coaching Program for helping your child with Autism, ADHD and Learning Differences
A 3-Stage Journey to Calm, Confident and Capable Driving — Together
You’re a parent of an Autistic, Anxious, or Neurodivergent teen or young adult with learning differences.
Maybe you know they could drive someday. Maybe they're curious or excited about it. Or maybe they aren't interested at all, but you want to know if they can become independent.
But the idea of getting behind the wheel - it’s a lot, for both of you.
You’ve heard things like:
“They’ll figure it out eventually”
“They’re just not ready yet”
“Driving isn’t for everyone…”
And maybe, after a while, you’ve started to wonder if those voices are right.
Or perhaps you have started the journey, but progress is different, confidence is crumbling, motivation dips, anxiety rises, and your child is ready to give up.
It can feel like you're doing this alone, without a proper roadmap that is designed for your young person.
What if you had a guide that embraced how your young driver learns best, one that honours their neurodivergence, supports emotional regulation, and builds real-world independence in a step-by-step way?
Not a quick fix. But a real, practical, empowering, coaching roadmap that meets your family at the stage where you are.
That’s what Drive With Me is all about.
This isn’t a driving school. It’s a guided coaching journey for parents who want to support their autistic or neurodivergent teen to approach driving in a way that matches their strengths, needs, and unique learning style.
This isn’t just about passing a test — it’s about growing independence, emotional regulation, and confidence behind the wheel and beyond.
We break the process into three stages, each with three clear, practical pillars.
Think of it as your family’s GPS — designed to reduce overwhelm, honour your teen’s learning process, and rebuild clarity, calm and connection as you navigate this milestone together.
"Is my teen ready? And if not… What is the next step?"
Many parents are surprised by how much groundwork is involved before driving even begins — and that’s completely okay.
For neurodivergent teens, the preparation phase can often take 6 to 18 months. That’s not a delay — it’s a different, deeper kind of learning. One that includes building up executive functioning, sensory regulation, visual scanning, and emotional resilience, not just studying for a test.
Here’s what we explore in Stage 1:
🔹 Readiness — How to understand your teen’s unique signs of readiness (hint: it’s not about age or peer comparison)
🔹 Pre-Driving Skills — The essential abilities to develop before getting behind the wheel
🔹 Road Rule Knowledge — How to learn in a way that works for autistic and neurodivergent brains
🔹 NDIS Navigation (Bonus for Aussie families) — How to advocate for and fund the supports your teen needs through their plan
📝 Research shows that autistic teens often approach driving on a different timeline — not because they’re less capable, but because the system isn’t always set up for them. With the right support, they don’t need to “wait until they’re ready”, we can meet them where they are and build that readiness together.
✅ Perfect for families saying, “We’re thinking about driving — but we’re not sure where to start.”
"We’ve got the learner’s. Now what?"
This is where many families pause, and that’s completely normal. Emotions can run high. Confidence may waver.
But with the right tools, guidance, and a plan that works for your teen’s learning style, you can move forward with clarity and calm.
🔹 Driving Instructor 101 — How to choose a neuroaffirming instructor, brief them effectively, and create a supportive learning relationship
🔹 You, in the Passenger Seat — Learn how to stay grounded, guide without pressure, and navigate complex moments (like roundabouts) with confidence
🔹 Driving with Neurodivergence — Explore common neurodivergent driving challenges (like focus shifts, sensory processing, shutdowns, and sequencing) — and how to support them with understanding and flexibility
📹 Includes practical video-based coaching, downloadable scripts, planning tools, and the option for direct liaison with your driving instructor.
✅ Ideal for families who are mid-journey — where practice has begun but progress feels inconsistent, frustrating, or uncertain.
They’re close to their Ps… but are they ready for what comes next?
Getting a licence isn’t the finish line, it’s just one part of the journey toward adult responsibility, autonomy and independence. In stage three we learn:
🔹 Test Readiness — Supporting your teen to stay grounded under pressure, bounce back from setbacks, and approach challenges with confidence
🔹 Life Skills with a Car — From fuel to servicing, we teach the practical skills of driving in a way that’s structured, accessible, and neurodivergent-friendly
🔹 Driving Into Adulthood — Explore safety, self-regulation, routine-building, and how driving connects to identity, independence and real-world responsibility
📝 Research shows autistic drivers often approach driving with greater caution — they’re less likely to receive speeding fines, but may face challenges in complex traffic scenarios like U-turns or right turns. With the right scaffolding, these challenges can be navigated with confidence.
✅ Ideal for families approaching the final stretch, looking to support a smoother transition into independent driving and adult life.
Too often, autistic drivers get their Ps… then park the keys. Not because they’re not ready, but because they weren’t supported past the test.
This program helps your teen stay on the road and in control of their journey.
Register for a free connection call or read on about the level of support available.
We offer two levels of support based on your family’s needs and goals.
✔ An onboarding session to explore your teen’s blockers, strengths and set personal goals
✔ Access to the stage that is appropriate for your needs (stages 1-3)
✔ New training modules each month, each focused on a practical development pillar (e.g. readiness, engagement, independence)
✔ A private parent-only support hub to connect, ask questions, and share wins
✔ Monthly group calls with Brad and expert guests (video-based, recorded for on-demand access)
✔ NDIS - Aligned tools, workbooks, and fillable templates to support planning, skill development and self-advocacy
Why It Works
Families get structure and professional insight without having to go it alone. The modules are designed so the videos and resources are used as part of your OT-led guidance, that’s what makes it NDIS claimable as Capacity Building: Parent Training or Increase Social & Community Participation.
Best For
Parents who want clear direction and peer connection, and who are committed to learning alongside their teen. Ideal for families beginning the driving journey or needing renewed confidence.
The real value:
Total estimated value over 12 months: $5,500+
Your cost through NDIS: $193.99/month
(billed under Capacity Building – Occupational Therapy)
So instead of paying thousands out of pocket, families receive the complete program as part of their funded supports.
Includes everything in Tier 1, plus:
✔ 6x additional 1:1 coaching sessions tailored to your teen’s unique barriers
✔ Custom support plans
✔ Option for remote observation and instructor liaison (where applicable)
✔ Priority Voxer access of up to 5 hours
✔ Ongoing personalised NDIS assistance
Why It Works
This option brings together the best of both worlds—self-paced, value-packed group education, plus meaningful 1:1 OT support. The added coaching sessions clearly justify claims under Capacity Building: Increased Social and Community Participation, Source & Participate in Community, Social & Recreational Activities, or even Daily Living Options, depending on plan design.
Best For
Families juggling complexity—whether executive function, emotional regulation or anxiety challenges—or those who want accountability via structured check-ins and personalised guidance.
The real value:
Total estimated value: $8,000+
Your cost through NDIS:
(3 hours each billed under Capacity Building – Occupational Therapy)
So families receive premium tailored support, direct access, and extended resources worth over $8,000 — yet only pay what their NDIS plan already allows for therapy.
Drive With Me isn’t a quick fix — and that’s the point.
It’s a supportive journey built around consistency, collaboration, and celebrating progress at your teen’s pace.
This may not be the best fit if:
✘ You’re looking for someone else to take over entirely
✘ You’re hoping one or two sessions will “tick the box”
✘ You’re expecting linear, fast progress
But it is a great fit if:
✔ You’re committed to walking alongside your teen as they build skills in their own time
✔ You’re open to learning, reflecting, and adapting your approach
✔ You value long-term independence over just “getting through the test”
We support growth. We don’t rush it.
We collaborate with families to build confidence, regulation, and skills that last beyond the L plates.
This is for families who:
✔ Want a clear path, not guesswork
✔ Are ready to invest time, care, and trust into the journey
✔ Are done feeling isolated, overwhelmed, or unsure where to start
If that feels like you, we’d love to support you.
Tier 1 – Drive With Me: Foundations
This isn’t just a self-paced video course — it’s a guided journey with monthly OT support. Each month, you’ll have a short telehealth call (around 30 minutes) with an occupational therapist, where we’ll check in, review progress, and prescribe 2–4 video modules that match your teen’s goals.
Between calls, families work through the recommended videos and practice activities at their own pace. You can revisit the resources anytime, and fit them around your family’s schedule, whether that’s watching casually or building them into structured learning time.
Tier 2 – Drive With Me: VIP
VIP families receive everything in Tier 1 plus additional structure and tailored coaching. Alongside the monthly OT calls and video modules, you’ll also have six extended 1:1 OT coaching sessions spread across the program. These sessions allow us to dive deeper into your teen’s specific challenges and build personalised strategies.
You’ll still enjoy full flexibility with the video modules, but the 1:1 component means more regular accountability, tailored support, and practical problem-solving. Families who choose this tier are ready to take focused steps forward with professional guidance at every stage.
While we'd love to be able to guarantee that every neurodivergent driver will be independent with driving, we aren't fortune tellers.
What we can guarantee is that you'll be given the tools, techniques, and support you need to give it every opportunity and build towards an independent life.
Yes — this program is designed to be claimed through the Capacity Building: Improved Daily Living category (Occupational Therapy).
Each month includes an individualised OT telehealth session where progress is reviewed, barriers are identified, and tailored video modules are prescribed as part of your home program. This makes it an eligible therapy support, not just a self-paced course.
If you’re self-managed or plan-managed, we’ll provide clear invoicing and guidance so you can confidently claim the cost from your plan.
Please note: NDIS funding always depends on the goals and support categories included in your individual plan.
Don’t have NDIS funding?
No problem — you can still enrol privately. In fact, you’ll be saving, because the program is billed at the NDIS therapy rate of $193.99 per month, which is lower than our standard private OT session rate. Nothing changes in terms of what you receive — you’ll still get the monthly OT calls, prescribed video modules, and ongoing support — it simply means you’re accessing it at a reduced rate compared to paying privately session by session.
Brad is the founder and CEO of Williams OT. He moved around a lot as a kid and didn’t grow up soon enough during school (maybe he still hasn’t). After ten years as a baker and pastry chef, he jumped into Uni and completed a bachelor’s degree in OT. Here, he was introduced to driving and has not looked back. After several years of working in a public hospital, he broke the shackles and started Williams OT in 2011. He developed an award-winning service that has the clients at the heart of everything. A proud family man, Brad is a qualified OT Driver Assessor and Rehab practitioner with additional qualifications in Heavy Vehicle and Motorbike assessments and is a qualified Motor Driving Instructor.
